Last Post of 2012!

christmas01 Last Post of 2012!

This is officially my last post for 2012!

I’ll be heading back to Dallas to visit family this weekend & will be on a much-needed VaCa for the next week!

I’ve had a surprisingly busy holiday season! The official count….
2012 Felted Sushi Ornament Sets Sold: 18
MAN! I’m super tired of making Sushi! I didn’t pre-make any sets because (honestly) I didn’t think I would sell that much & could keep up with the few orders when they came in. But that’s between 50-60 pieces of Sushi in the last month! Next year I’m sure I’ll be ready… and won’t sell that many!!!!

My shop will be going on VACATION MODE as of this morning. I will still be posting to my Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. I’m sure there will be some fun Felted Chicken Head adventures along the way.

I hope everyone has very safe travels & a very Merry Christmas this week!
And you also have me best wishes for a very Happy New Year!

Thank You for a fantastic 2012!!

Last weekend Felted Chicken Head had a whirl-wind trip to Las Vegas for some Sex, Drugs, & Rock ‘n Roll…
(not really, we just went for the day & played a few penny slots)

Back from Yellowstone!

What a trip! We packed so much sight seeing & quality family time into a few days! Wyoming was so beautiful & I’m pretty sure that this song was written from the front porch of our cabin…

Home on Range Back from Yellowstone!

We in fact saw Buffalo, and Deer, and Antelope along with too many stars to count, crazy beautiful mountains and streams, and Old Faithful! I was super excited about that one!

Buffalo 1 Back from Yellowstone!

We saw a TON of buffalo. They just hung out around where our cabin was & stopped traffic when they were crossing the highway. I’d be stuck in that traffic any day, justifiable, rather L.A.’s dumb traffic!

Beautiful GIANT waterfalls!

Yep, Felted Chicken had a great time too! He’s seen quite a bit of this country in the last 6 months! Here are just a few of the highlights of his trip!

You can’t see just how GIANT this waterfall was! The lower falls I think drops like over 300 feet! I think we were standing in the spot where all the painting were done. It was called Artist’s Point!

Taken in Jackson Hole, WY. They have these awesome arches in the town square made entirely of antlers! I don’t want to think about how may deer had to sacrifice themselves for the sake of art…

Mary Felted Chicken Head Back from Yellowstone!

Felted Chicken Head meeting his #1 Fan, my Aunt Mary! She was so excited to see him!

I think this last picture shows what was the BEST part of the trip. Being able to spend time with my family that I don’t get to see that much (living so far away). It was a full cabin: Me & my husband, my mom & dad, my Aunt Sheila & Steve, my Aunt Mary, and my Grandma & Grandpa (who is turning 91 in a few weeks!!) It was a trip of a life time!

Getting Outta L.A.!

I’m going to be gone most of this week. Meeting my family up in Yellowstone for a few days of hiking, s’mores making, and probably Yatzee playing!

I feel so lucky that we have the chance to go meet my parents, aunts & uncle & grandparents for a few days in a place that’s totally NEW!

Will be back to business on Saturday, hopefully rested & recharged to create wilderness-inspired pieces!

Get to check this one off the list!

And the Felted Chicken Head will be coming with us!!

Our trip to the San Diego Zoo!

I had a great Birthday! My husband & I went down to the San Diego Zoo on Friday & spent the day walking (sooooo much walking) and being inspired by the amazing collection of animals. We took the Felted Chicken Head & since it was his first visit to a zoo, I don’t think he quite understood where we were going, I think he thought we were going on a Safari or something.

We saw the Meerkats! They were so cute & funny!

We did we some fun wildlife! Felted Chicken Head wore his Safari Hat!

And at one of the Zoo store, I saw this shelf of Felted Awesomeness! There was a bunch of hand-felted kids toys, looked mostly wet-felted, but I feel the need to share my excitement whenever I see felted stuff at stores. Just shows you the increase in popularity for felted goods!

Saw this area in one of the Zoo Stores! Filled with so much fun Felted Stuff & had to snap a pict.

And finally have to share part of my Birthday Lunch! My husband’s aunt took us to a fun restaurant that is BACON-CRAZY! I had their famous 50/50 Burger, which is 50% ground beef & 50% ground bacon. (I’m still full from that meal). ANd then for dessert we had to try the Bacon Brownie, it was good, but very rich & you couldn’t really taste the bacon.

At my birthday lucy we got a free dessert, & I HAD to pick the famous Bacon Brownie. I was surprisingly delicious!

Back from our Alaskan Adventure!

Finally getting to write a little about my amazing Alaskan Vacation, after the long trip & a long battle with a wicked cold (luckily got it AFTER we got home)!  Our trip was, mostly, awesome!

We spent 3 days in the beautiful city of Vancouver, B.C. before our cruise sailed. We’d been told that Vancouver was an amazing city, and we weren’t lied to. It is so clean, and the people were so nice. We walked for miles, just taking in the city & the sights. We visited Stanley Park, Capilano Suspension Bridge, China Town, and everywhere in-between.

Then we sailed away on the MS Volendam via the Holland America Cruise Line. I think it was a smaller ship and… um, how do I say this diplomatically… it’s general demographic was of the retired-person persuasion. Yep, there were a bunch of old people on our cruise which is okay cause that meant there weren’t so many kids running around. We ate too much food, were a bit too lazy, and it was so much fun! Being our first cruise, we don’t have much to compare it to, but we had a good time, so that’s all that matters.

Now on to Alaska…

So the first couple days were kinda crappy, not Alaska in general, but Alaska’s weather. It was so cold & raining! Not cold enough to snow which would have been fun, but still cold & wet, you just couldn’t get warm. My husband and I love to walk around cities, taking in the local atmosphere, but at our Juneau & Skagway port stops, the weather was just too bad to enjoy the cities. We grumpily sloshed through the area around the port & headed back to the ship for more free food.

Awesome Totem Pole, love the character! Skagway, Alaska

BUT THEN THERE WAS GLACIER BAY….

We woke up on the 4th day, and there was light, as in the sun! We spent the entire day sailing through possibly one of the most beautiful places in the world. We saw wildlife, icebergs, and falling crashing glaciers. It was still cold, but the scenery made up for our frozen fingers & chattering teeth. It was breathtaking, thinking back on Glacier Bay, I still can’t believe a place like that exists & I feel so privileged to have had the chance to visit it. EVERYBODY needs to go and see the awesomeness that mother nature can create. We saw (all from afar) killer whales, dolphins, a black bear, puffins, humpback whale sprays, bald eagles, and a couple seals.

Me in Glacier Bay, It was FREEZING!

I love Icebergs & how my iPhone takes pictures of them!

Then our good-weather-luck continued as we stopped in Ketchikan! We saw a Lumberjack Competition, visited a local Native American Village, saw some super cool totem poles, and got to finally walk around a very fun city. It was beautiful outside & we actually wish we had had more time to explore it.

Hooray LUMBERJACKS! A real Alaskan experience, HAHA!

So our overall review of the Alaskan Cruise… B+  Just because of the weather, which could be my fault for trying to save a little money & going at the very beginning of the season. I think we’ll have to put this back on our long list of “Places we have to see before we die”, but just this time I think I’ll book our cruise in the middle of July or something!
