New Adventures of Felted Chicken Head!

So this weekend we went to a very fun Fall Festival at a local farm here in Los Angles! There were hayrack rides, a petting zoo, & a TON of pumpkins!! We had so much fun, and The Felted Chicken Head a a BLAST!

Then, a couple weeks ago we went to my first ever Dodger’s Game! It was pretty fun, but kinda boring… I remember it being way more excited when I was a kid. But we did eat peanuts & icecream outta one of those little baseball hats!

I picked my pumpkin! I wanted to get a big one, but they are so messy & I was scared some jerk would walk by the house & smash it, so I went with a mini one.

Would You Buy a Duplex?

Hear me out….

So probably my biggest dream in life right now is that my husband & I move to Hawaii (the Big Island), buy a super cute older house, live in paradise & make art all day long…. ahhhh…. sigh….

Me snorkeling in Hawaii! There were turtles & fish! Could do this everyday! Good workout too!

*I feel especially inspired to make this happen RIGHT THIS SECOND cause I’m writing this from the Laundromat… oh goodness… to have my very own washer & dryer… SIGH… at least they have free wifi here…*

So whenever I’m feeling stressed out or unmotivated, I look up Hawaiian Real Estate & daydream about my future life. At least I’m somewhat realistic about it by looking at houses that we could actually afford to buy, unlike my husband who gets super excited & our conversations usually go like this…

Lance – “OH! Look at this House! It’s Awesome!”

Me – “How much is it?”

Lance – “I don’t know, but look! It’s got a waterfall in the backyard! And look! It’s got 14 bedrooms!”

Me – “uh, yea… How much is it…”

Lance – “uh.. it’s like $3 million… BUT LOOK! It comes with a midget that cooks your food & does your laundry!!!…” -

(made up that last part, but that’s pretty much how it goes)

My husband’s Auntie Cathy’s house in Hilo, Hawaii. So many windows & a cool ocean breeze… sigh…

Imagine this is your backyard… No really, this is his Auntie’s backyard!!

But as I’m looking through the listings, I keep coming across duplexes. At first I just skipped over them, but then got to thinking….

How AWESOME would it be to build your dream craft studio that includes a sink & a stove & a TON of cabinet storage space?!?!?!?!

I mean really! I could have my very own utility sink, a stove that is used only for dying wool (I guess you could use it as a backup for Thanksgiving too), and cabinets upon cabinets that don’t have dishes in them, just arts & crafts supplies!!!  OMG!!

So in my imagination…

We find a cute 2 bedroom / 1 bath house with a normal sized kitchen, that has a 1 bedroom / 1 bath with a kitchenette in the basement. Have a normal house upstairs & a Craft Studio / Gym / Photo Studio / Storage Space in the basement… OH YEA! Maybe with a Mango & Banana Tree plus a couple of pineapple bushes!!

…sigh…

…some day…

…it WILL happen…

Back from our Alaskan Adventure!

Finally getting to write a little about my amazing Alaskan Vacation, after the long trip & a long battle with a wicked cold (luckily got it AFTER we got home)!  Our trip was, mostly, awesome!

We spent 3 days in the beautiful city of Vancouver, B.C. before our cruise sailed. We’d been told that Vancouver was an amazing city, and we weren’t lied to. It is so clean, and the people were so nice. We walked for miles, just taking in the city & the sights. We visited Stanley Park, Capilano Suspension Bridge, China Town, and everywhere in-between.

Then we sailed away on the MS Volendam via the Holland America Cruise Line. I think it was a smaller ship and… um, how do I say this diplomatically… it’s general demographic was of the retired-person persuasion. Yep, there were a bunch of old people on our cruise which is okay cause that meant there weren’t so many kids running around. We ate too much food, were a bit too lazy, and it was so much fun! Being our first cruise, we don’t have much to compare it to, but we had a good time, so that’s all that matters.

Now on to Alaska…

So the first couple days were kinda crappy, not Alaska in general, but Alaska’s weather. It was so cold & raining! Not cold enough to snow which would have been fun, but still cold & wet, you just couldn’t get warm. My husband and I love to walk around cities, taking in the local atmosphere, but at our Juneau & Skagway port stops, the weather was just too bad to enjoy the cities. We grumpily sloshed through the area around the port & headed back to the ship for more free food.

Awesome Totem Pole, love the character! Skagway, Alaska

BUT THEN THERE WAS GLACIER BAY….

We woke up on the 4th day, and there was light, as in the sun! We spent the entire day sailing through possibly one of the most beautiful places in the world. We saw wildlife, icebergs, and falling crashing glaciers. It was still cold, but the scenery made up for our frozen fingers & chattering teeth. It was breathtaking, thinking back on Glacier Bay, I still can’t believe a place like that exists & I feel so privileged to have had the chance to visit it. EVERYBODY needs to go and see the awesomeness that mother nature can create. We saw (all from afar) killer whales, dolphins, a black bear, puffins, humpback whale sprays, bald eagles, and a couple seals.

I love Icebergs & how my iPhone takes pictures of them!

Then our good-weather-luck continued as we stopped in Ketchikan! We saw a Lumberjack Competition, visited a local Native American Village, saw some super cool totem poles, and got to finally walk around a very fun city. It was beautiful outside & we actually wish we had had more time to explore it.

Hooray LUMBERJACKS! A real Alaskan experience, HAHA!

So our overall review of the Alaskan Cruise… B+  Just because of the weather, which could be my fault for trying to save a little money & going at the very beginning of the season. I think we’ll have to put this back on our long list of “Places we have to see before we die”, but just this time I think I’ll book our cruise in the middle of July or something!
