I grew up in a house where my parents collected cool antiques, so I’ve always been drawn to the 1930′s-1950′s era vintage collectibles. Violetpie has the perfect combination of retro-style & modern techniques! (many of her doll’s faces remind me of Cupie Dolls).

Shana’s work draws from the “wonders” of nature, or should I say the wonderfully oddness of nature! Many of her wet felted vessels are reminiscent of seed pods, or cocoons (with creepy-crawlies inside)!

I also LOVE LOVE LOVE Shana’s willingness to experiment. I adore the piece she has made that incorporate lighting, also I hear her talk about trying different materials & techniques. I respect an artist that is not afraid to make a mess… which can sometimes lead to a few genius moments!

]]> I’ve admired this amazingly sensitive & nature inspired sculptor for a while. Mister Finch, based out of England, has a primitive but “Creepy Cute” style that I just adore.

Working with recycled materials, his sculptures are a collage of vintage fabrics & free form sewing. The taxedermy-like sculptures are raw, polished, simple and complex all at the same time…. don’t ask me how he does it!!
